Find essential information for ACC authors, including guidelines, submission requirements, and tips for a successful publication process.
All conference submissions must be done through PaperPlaza and submitted by the deadline. Authors of accepted papers and posters are expected to attend the ACC and present their work.
Contributed Papers
A contributed paper is intended to be a complete description of finished work. Accepted papers are limited to 6 pages in the conference proceedings at no extra charge; up to two extra pages are allowed for a per-page fee. Note that there is no separate short paper format. Please see details below under “Support for Authors” and “Submission and Registration Policies”. There is now an option to submit a paper for publication in L-CSS and present it at ACC. Submissions to L-CSS are strictly limited to 6 pages. Additional details on submission policies can be found on the journal web page.
Note that at ACC 2028, contributed papers will be presented at the conference in either a traditional presentation session (up to 6 papers in each session, with 15-minute presentation for each paper) or a rapid interactive (RI) session (up to 15 papers in each session, with 3-minute presentation for each paper and then in a 45-minute digital poster session). Details on which type of presentation format accepted papers will be presented in will be announced when the program is created after the final submission date.
Invited Sessions
An invited session consists of a collection of regular papers that cover a unified theme from diverse viewpoints. The process to create and submit an invited session proposal (along with the associated papers) is as follows:
- The proposal should contain the title of the invited session, 1-2 paragraphs describing the session, followed by the titles, author names, affiliations, and abstracts associated with each paper. Full papers are not needed for the proposal submission process. The proposal should be prepared and submitted early enough to generate an invited session code (see below).
- The invited session organizer(s) submits the proposal via PaperPlaza. Submissions are then internally reviewed and manually approved, whereupon a session code is generated and sent to the Contributing Authors. Note that this approval process may take several hours, and therefore submitters are encouraged to submit proposals early if possible.
- The corresponding author of each paper then submits their full conference paper online (PDF format) as an invited paper using the invited session code. The code is required to link the submitted paper to the appropriate invited session proposal. Please note that the papers must follow the standard format for this conference.
After submitting your proposal, you can track the status of the papers submitted into your session in PaperPlaza.
Note that IEEE Control Systems Letters (L-CSS) papers have the option to be considered as an ACC invited paper. The paper contributors will submit their paper to the L-CSS (note that the L-CSS deadline is September 12, 2027).
Authors interested in submitting through L-CSS a paper that should be part of an ACC Invited Session, can select “LCSS-ACC Invited Sessions” as submission type at the time of the paper submission and insert the Invited Session Code (received by the Invited Session Organisers) in the corresponding field. If such a code is not available at the time of submission, the authors may submit the paper as “LCSS-ACC” paper and subsequently contact the LCSS Editor in Chief, Laura Menini, by requesting a change of submission type, and specifying the number of their L-CSS and ACC paper, the name of the invited session, the name of the invited session organizer(s) and the ACC invited session code (received from the ACC invited session organizers). This should be done no later than September 28, and in any case before receiving the LCSS decision at the end of the first round of review.

Spacial Session
A brief description of the session, indicating the topic(s) to be covered and who will be making presentations in the session, should be submitted electronically (through PaperPlaza). Special sessions usually do not include presentations of papers that are peer-reviewed and included in the conference proceedings. For more information, or to discuss possible special session topics, please contact the Vice Chair for Special Sessions, May-Win Thein.

Workshops
ACC 2026 will offer workshops addressing current and future topics in automatic control from experts in academia and industry.
Conference registrants can sign up for the workshops directly through the registration site. For additional information about workshops, please contact the Workshops Chair, Dimitra Panagou.
We are committed to organizing workshops that are inclusive and supportive to all members of our community. To this end, workshop proposals must include a statement explaining the diversity of the session along dimensions such as gender, geography, industry/academia affiliation and other forms of diversity. If creating a diverse session has been particularly challenging for you, please include a statement indicating what efforts you took to increase the diversity. We welcome any additional forms of diversity you wish to articulate. If you have concrete plans to promote DEI in your workshops, please indicate them in the proposal and feel free to contact Behrouz Touri, the Vice Chair for Outreach and Broadening Participation, with any questions.
Please note that workshops are subject to cancellation at the discretion of the organizers due to lack of registrants. Organizers and the chair will do their best to inform workshop registrants of cancellations, but please check the Workshops page often for current status.
Support for authors
Author’s Kits with style (.cls) files for LaTeX and templates (.dot) for MS-Word are available from the conference submission site. Go to the PaperPlaza website and select “Support” for these files and example files, or directly go to the support page.
Submission and Registration Policies
All papers submitted to ACC 2028, whether for review or publication upon acceptance, must be written in English and formatted in the standard 2- column format provided on PaperPlaza.
- For initial submissions, all regular and invited papers are limited to eight (8) pages. PaperPlaza will not permit longer papers to be uploaded.
- For final upload and publication in the conference proceedings, all accepted contributed and invited papers are limited to six (6) pages at no extra charge. Authors may upload longer manuscripts up to a maximum of eight (8) pages total. However, each page in excess of six will incur a charge of USD 200.
- At least one of the authors listed on the paper must register for ACC 2028 at the full member/non-member rate to upload the final manuscript. A maximum of 4 papers can be uploaded with a single registration. Additional uploads on the same registration will require a payment of USD 200 per paper.
- Please note: If an author registers at a reduced registration rate (student/retiree), s/he will not be able to use that registration to upload the final paper or final poster.
- Please consider submitting your paper early and ensuring your paper satisfies the PDF check. Revised versions of papers can be resubmitted up until the deadline. No extensions of the deadline are foreseen.
All papers must be submitted electronically using PaperPlaza. Only PDF files will be accepted. A maximum file size of 2MB for all uploaded papers is enforced. Click here for information on creating IEEE Xplore-compatible PDFs.
